You can post any video relevant to the topic you are teaching and then give questions for discussion. Opinions, for and against - anything you find appropriate.
Your task:
1) Answer the question: What is your opinion about this group participating in Eurovision contest?2) Is such a task appropriate in your teaching context?
Well, we should ask our students whether they like Eurovision contest at all. If yes, we could surely discuss it. Lidia
ReplyDeleteThe task to discuss advantages and disadvantages is very useful because our students should be able to write essays, giving opposing points of view. I think it is mo=re interesting to do it in blog, because they can see different points of view here.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to notice that our students really love watching and listening - they are the generation of consumers. That's why I love using videos.
ReplyDeleteI use a lot of videos at my lessons, and I noticed that my kids really enjoy all of them.
ReplyDeleteSome of my students don't have an opportunity to use the Internet so it's hard to make them watch the video. It's more convenient to watch the video in the class and organize group collaboration afterwards.
ReplyDeleteIt's appropriate if a teacher is able to show it in class and use it as a part of teaching process and not just mere entertainment.
ReplyDeleteIt,s good for
ReplyDelete1) relaxation after drilling,
2) speaking task to share opinions on Eurovision as a whole and this particular performance
A good thing about posting a video on a blog and not (only use it in class) is that the learners can go back over it as many times as they need/want. It's also a good way of practising written production (chats/comments are generally more attractive than paper-based activities).
ReplyDeleteThey are great
ReplyDeleteThe task may be used as home work
That's a good task for defining the differences in mentalities.
ReplyDeleteIt also can be good for encouraging a discussion, for standing points of view
These old ladies are a little bit friques with their sons for tis contest
ReplyDelete1. The old ladies are wonderful but the song is rubbish. We have much better folklore stuff.
ReplyDelete2. A good task. Listening and a bit of creative writing in one set.
In my opinion, the task is good for warm-up activity, discussion the topic.
ReplyDelete1.I think Eurovision contest is just a political thing and some say it is good only for entertaining housewives and teenagers. It is hard to find good quality music there - it is just a show! I usually watch it because I can take some new ideas for our children performing at school!
ReplyDelete2.Asking opinion about such a popular event is a good idea as everyone knows about Eurovision contest. Teenagers love music and they will be glad to post videos of their favourite songs and musicians. It is a challenge for them to prove that they know much better examples of video clips.
